Who this award is for
Built for people stepping into, or already in, a first supervisory role in any sector.
New and recently promoted supervisors taking charge of a team for the first time
Technically strong staff moving into their first role leading the people around them
Team leads who earned the job on their output and now get results through other people
Shift and floor supervisors who run a team day to day but were never trained for it
Experienced managers coaching first-time supervisors through the move into leadership
Owner-managers who need their supervisors leading people consistently, not just working
What you will be able to do
By the end of the award you will be able to:
- Make the shift from doing the work yourself to getting it done well through other people
- Set clear standards and expectations, and follow through fairly when they are not met
- Delegate properly, so work is covered without you having to step in and redo it
- Hold the core conversations: everyday feedback, coaching, and handling underperformance
- Plan and prioritise a team's work under real pressure, not just your own workload
- Lead yourself and your team steadily when the operation is busy or short-staffed
- Apply all of this to the day-to-day realities of your own team and sector
Course structure
Four live online sessions on Wednesdays, 14:30 to 17:00 CET, with worksheets and workplace scenarios in between.
From doing to leading: the supervisor's shift
The move from peer to leader: authority, credibility and letting go of doing it all yourself. What changes on day one, and the traps new supervisors fall into.
Getting work done through others
Delegation that sticks, clear standards and expectations, and following through when work is not to standard, without micromanaging and without avoiding it.
The core conversations
Everyday feedback, coaching a team member to improve, and handling underperformance early and fairly, before it grows into a bigger problem.
Managing performance and yourself
Setting goals and priorities, running a simple performance rhythm, and leading steadily when the operation is busy, short-staffed or under pressure.
What is included
- Four live online sessions of 2.5 hours, delivered by a qualified practitioner
- Downloadable worksheets and ready-to-use workplace templates you keep
- Sector scenarios you work through between the sessions
- The MFHEA-accredited Auren award at MQF Level 4, worth 2 ECTS, on completion

What makes our courses work
Three things you get in every Auren course.
Practitioner-led, not lectured
Taught live by someone who has done the job, built on real workplace scenarios you can act on the next day.
Templates you keep
You leave with worksheets and supervision templates you can use straight away, not just notes.
Applying knowledge and AI applications
You practise applying what you learn, including practical AI tools you can use in a supervisor's role.
Scenario-based, on real sector situations
You work through real situations a supervisor meets in your own sector, chosen to match the cohort you join, so the practice reflects the work you actually do.

Assessment is a work-based written assignment of 1,500 words, completed in your own time after the sessions. It asks you to apply the award to your own team. Pass the assignment and you receive the Auren award at MQF Level 4. There is no exam.
Who delivers it
The award is delivered only by qualified and experienced trainers, each matched to the sector so the examples, scenarios and coaching reflect the work you actually do.
