Cookie policy
Version 2. Effective 31 July 2026. Replaces the previous cookie policy.
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on aureninstitute.com, what they do, and how you control them. It sits alongside our privacy notice, which explains how we handle personal data generally.
Auren Institute is the data controller. We are at 92, No. 1, St Edward Street, Qormi QRM 2136, Malta, registration P1421, VAT MT20967027. Contact us at info@aureninstitute.com.
This policy replaces our previous cookie policy, which listed a number of providers we do not use.
2. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others help us understand how the site is used, or support advertising. We also use similar technologies such as tags and pixels, and where we say cookies in this policy we mean those too.
3. The cookies actually set on our site
The list below was produced by loading our own site in a browser and reading what it set, on 31 July 2026. It is what happens, not what a template says should happen.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| slim_session | Auren, via LearnWorlds | Holds your session and keeps you signed in. | Strictly necessary |
| school, lw_dark_mode | Auren, via LearnWorlds | Identifies which school you are on and remembers your light or dark display setting. | Strictly necessary and functional |
| _cfuvid | Cloudflare | Distinguishes real visitors from automated traffic and applies rate limits. Not used to track you. | Strictly necessary |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe | Payment processing and fraud prevention at checkout. | Strictly necessary |
| _ga, _ga_PJ4D6KFE6Y, _ga_MR4CHYMFC9 | Google Analytics 4 | Measures how the site is used. The two long identifiers correspond to two separate Google Analytics properties. | Analytics |
| Beamer cookies (five, prefixed _BEAMER_) | Beamer | Runs the product announcement and changelog widget, and remembers what you have already seen. | Functional |
| _tccl_visitor | Third party, under review | Present on our site. We are confirming which provider sets it and what it does, and this policy will be updated once we have. | Under review |
4. Tags present on our pages
| Technology | What it is for | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Loads and manages the tags below. | Infrastructure |
| Google Analytics 4 | Site measurement, as above. | Analytics |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag | Measures and targets advertising on LinkedIn. | Marketing |
| Meta (Facebook) | Referenced in our page code. It was not observed initialising on the pages we checked, and we are confirming whether it is active. | Marketing, under review |
| Vimeo | Serves course video. Vimeo may set its own cookies when a video loads. | Functional |
| Transloadit | Handles file uploads such as assignment submissions. | Strictly necessary |
5. Your choices, and where we currently fall short
We want to be straightforward about this rather than describe something that is not there.
Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent, because the site cannot work without them. Analytics and marketing cookies do require your consent before they are set.
At the time of writing our site does not present a consent banner, and analytics cookies are set when you arrive. That is not where we want to be and we are putting a consent tool in place. Until it is live, you can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on Google publishes for that purpose. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working, including signing in and paying.
Where an advertising cookie is set by LinkedIn, you can also control it through your LinkedIn account settings.
If you would like us to delete analytics data associated with your visits, write to us and we will.
6. Where cookie data goes
Some of the providers above are established outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred we rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission, the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses, or the International Data Transfer Addendum for transfers from the United Kingdom.
Our privacy notice explains your rights over this data and how to complain to a supervisory authority.
7. Changes
We review this policy when the technologies on our site change. The version and date are at the top and material changes are recorded at the foot. We will update it when the consent tool described in section 5 is live.
v2 (31 July 2026): Rebuilt from an inspection of the live site on 31 July 2026. Removes providers listed in the previous policy that are not used. Names the cookies actually set and the third parties actually present.
